GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to quickly change to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able of wireless charging at 75 kW.
We had the chance to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can block the sound of traffic and wind driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over ruts and humps. The acceleration is extremely quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one pedal driving" by simply taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be charged within three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two modes of operation that include eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both are fun to drive and provide an unique experience for anyone who has never been in an electric vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, including a multi-purpose all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, transit or microtransit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles.
powered mobility scooter is already producing about 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 fully electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration which wants to electrify all school buses in America.
